INSAT-2B

INSAT-2B, the second in the INSAT-2 series was a multi-purpose satellite for telecommunication, television broadcasting and meteorological services. It was launched successfully by Ariane-4 from Kourou, French Guiana on July 23, 1993. It carried 12 Normal C band (for FSS), 6 extended C band (for FSS) & 2 S band (for BSS) Transponders. It also carried 1 Data relay Transponder, 1 SAR (Search and Rescue) transponder and a Very High Resolution Radiometer (VHRR) with 2km resolution in the visible band and 8 km resolution in thermal infra-red and water vapour band for meteorological application.
