Applications are invited for the following training position

  Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), is the largest establishment under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Department of Space. VSSC is engaged in the development of Sounding Rockets, Launch Vehicles, Space Craft Subsystems and other Space related fundamental research activities. VSSC is the lead Centre for carrying out all the major Launch Vehicle Projects of ISRO such as PSLV, GSLV, GSLV MkIII, Re-usable Launch Vehicle (RLV), Space Capsule Recovery Experiment (SRE) and advanced missions such as Inter Planetary Missions, Manned Mission and First Indian Moon Mission (Chandrayan-1) etc. The multi-disciplinary responsibilities entrusted with VSSC offer challenging career opportunities to bright and result-oriented Graduates/diploma holders in Engineering/Science, who are capable of executing time-bound, state-of-the-art tasks of national importance in various positions. The selected candidates will be posted to work under the guidance of experienced senior Scientists/Engineers at VSSC/ISRO.

      Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PWD candidates:
Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/Persons with Disabilities [Locomotor disability or Cerebral palsy] is applicable as per rules.

General Conditions/Instructions:

  1. Age limit
    Upper Age limit is 35 years as on 01.12.2009. (Candidates born on or after 01.12.1974 (For unreserved)), 01.12.1971 (OBC), 01.12.1969 (SC/ST), 01.12.1964 (PH) can apply).

  2. The period of training will be one year and selected candidates will be registered under the Apprentices Act 1961.

  3. Candidates who have acquired the qualifying examination on or after 01.08.2007 only are eligible for the above training positions.

  4. Those who have undergone/are undergoing Apprenticeship training or have job experience for a period of one year or more are not eligible to be considered for the above apprenticeship training.

  5. The trainees will have no claim whatsoever for employment in Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre or any other Centres / Units of Indian Space Research Organisation/ Department of Space after completion of the training period.

  6. Candidates who have passed Degree/Diploma from a recognized University/Board coming under Southern Region of Board of Apprenticeship Training (Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh states and Pondicherry UT coming under Southern Region). Candidates should attach proof of the details furnished in their applications such as attested copies of certificates and all other testimonials while sending the confirmatory copy.

  7. The relevant qualifications should be passed with First class/First Division/I class with Distinction/with Honours. BE/B.Tech holders should score atleast 65% marks; Diploma holders should score atleast 60% marks except for Catering Technology for which pass class is sufficient. Result Awaited cases will not be considered.

  8. Sandwich degrees/diplomas, private degree/diploma, short-term courses , applications of other disciplines or areas, Diploma holders doing B.Tech. etc. need not apply. Engineering degree only considered for Graduate Apprentice except for Library Science.

  9. Only Indian Nationals need apply.

  10. No interim correspondence will be entertained.

  11. Canvassing in any form will be a disqualification.

  12. Incomplete applications and applications received after the due date are liable to rejected.

  13. Government encourages women candidates, fulfilling the norms, to apply for the positions of Apprentices to have gender balance.

  14. Guidelines for on-line registration
    (a) For the positions of Graduate Apprentice (Chemical Engg.-code: GA02) and Technician Apprentice (Chemical Engg.-code: TA002), Degree/Diploma in Petroleum Engg. will not qualify. At the same time Diploma holders in Petro-chemical Engg. will qualify for Code-TA002.

    (b) For the positions of Graduate Apprentice (Computer Sci./Engg.-code: GA04) and Technician Apprentice (Computer Science/Engg.- code: TA004), those who passed with Degree/Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Hardware Maintenance etc. and B.Sc./M.Sc. in Computer Science are not eligible.

    (c) For the positions of Graduate Apprentice (Electrical Engg.-code: GA05) and Technician Apprentice (Electrical Engg.-code: TA005), ¿Electrical and Electronics¿ will qualify. Degree/Diploma in Power Electronics will not qualify.

    (d) For the positions of Graduate Apprentice (Electronics Engg.-code: GA06) and Technician Apprentice (Electronics Engg.-code: TA006), those who passed with Degree/Diploma in Electrical & Electronics; Telecommunication Engg.; Medical Electronics; Information Technology; Power electronics and B.Sc./M.Sc. with Electronics are not eligible. However, Degree/Diploma in Applied Electronics; Electronics & Telecommunication; Electronics & Instrumentation; Electronics & Communication; and Electronics Production Technology will qualify.

    (e) For the positions of Graduate Apprentice (Mechanical Engg. -code: GA07) and Technician Apprentice (Mechanical Engg.-code: TA008), those who passed with Degree/Diploma in Mechatronics, Production Engg., Tool & Die, Manufacturing Engg. etc. will not qualify. At the same time, B.Tech. in Mechanical - Production stream will qualify.

    (f) For the positions of Technician Apprentice (Instrument Technology-code: TA007), Diploma in Instrument Technology or Instrumentation & Control will qualify.

    (g) For the positions of Technician Apprentice (Catering Technology-code: TA009), Diploma in Catering Technology /Hotel Management will qualify. Those passed the Diploma without first class can also apply for Code: TA009.

    (h) If the consolidated Mark list/Certificate specifies CGPA/OGPA/CPA, convert the same in terms of equivalent percentage.

    (i) For the positions of Graduate Apprentice (Library Science-code: GA09), those passed with Integrated M.LISc. course are not eligible.

  15. The confirmatory copies of on-line registration, affixing a recent passport size photograph along with attested true copies of Certificates, Mark sheets, Caste Certificate (Non-creamy layer Certificate for OBC candidates) and Disability certificate in the case of PWD candidates should reach the SENIOR ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER, RECRUITMENT & REVIEW SECTION, VIKRAM SARABHAI SPACE CENTRE, ISRO POST, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM - 695 022 by ordinary post on or before 04.12.2009. The confirmatory copies should be sent in a cover superscribed "Application for Graduate/Technician Apprenticeship Training (Discipline:_____________________)".

    HOW TO APPLY
    Upon on-line registration, applicants will be provided with an on-line Registration Number, which should be carefully preserved for future reference. After submission, it is mandatory for the applicant to send the printed application form (confirmatory copy of the application) along with the following documents by speed post without which online application will not be considered.
    1. Attested copies of all testimonials in proof of educational qualifications, caste, experience etc.

             The above documents should reach within seven days of registering the application and in any case not later than 04.12.2009.


    Guidelines To Fill The Online Application

    STEP 1:  CRITERIA VERIFICATION

    You will have to check out whether you meet the criteria against this Advt by validating yourself in order to apply for the Post.

    STEP 2:  REGISTRATION

    You would require your e-mail ID to register. You can register only once using this e-mail ID. 

    Click on the link "Apply Now". Fill all the fields and click on the 'SUBMIT'  button. On successful registration, you will receive an e-mail with following details:

    From : no-reply@vssc.gov.in 

    Subject: Reg: Advt.No.RMT250 of VSSC RECRUITMENT

    Then click on the link given in the e-mail to open your online application form. Check your SPAM/BULK MAIL folders if the mail is not seen in the INBOX.

    STEP 3:  APPLICATION

    Fill in all the information correctly and "SUBMIT". On Submission, you will have an opportunity to preview and confirm. Read all the details carefully. If any change is required, Click on "GO BACK". 

    To finally submit your application, click on "CONFIRM" button. On successful application, your registration number will be displayed on screen and an e-mail will be sent to you. Note down your Registration Number and keep in a safe place. This would be required for checking the status of your application in future.

    STEP 4:  Print the APPLICATION

    This step is required to send your application summary by post. 

    OBC candidates may please refer to the declaration form Declaration form to be attached along with Application.  

    Click on the "PRINT APPLICATION SUMMARY FORM" button. Take two print-outs of the form.
