The Officers and employees working in VSSC are broadly categorized as
- Scientific & Technical and
- Administrative and Auxiliary personnel.
Considering the programmatic and project requirements the work allocation is given by the concerned Chief of the Division.
Administrative personnel
The major work areas of administration in the Department are (a) Personnel & General Administration, (b) Finance & Accounts and (c) Purchase & Stores. All the three areas function normally on a three tier system, viz., Dealing hands, Officers and Heads of Divisions. The Heads of all such divisions report to the Chief Controller, who is responsible for co-ordination of administrative and auxilliary services. In addition to the above there are groups/divisions to look after construction related matters and medical field.

b. Finance &Accounts :
The duties and responsibilities of the officers and employees working in the Finance & Accounts include all the matters related to
- Compilation of monthly Accounts
- Cash handling, Maintenance of Cash Book and related Registers
- Payment of Tax Deduction at Source (TDS) and filing of quarterly IT returns
- Processing of supplier bills and contractors bills for payment.
- Pre-audit of purchase order files and civil work orders, etc
- Computation and authorization of Pension and payment of all terminal benefits
- Formulation of Budget of the Centre/Project
- Expenditure Control and Internal & External Audit
- Preparation of Pay Bills, supplementary bills and disbursement of monthly salaries of Officers and Staff.
- Passing of Bills related to Traveling Allowance, Leave Travel Concessions, PF Advances and withdrawals, Medical Reimbursement bills, contingency and miscellaneous expenditure.
- Issue of cheques, Reconciliation of daily remittances to and withdrawals from Bank and verification of date-wise monthly statement from Bank, complying with all PFMS regulations.

c. Purchase & Stores :
The duties and responsibilities of the officers and employees working in the Purchase & Stores include all the matters pertaining to Procurement, Storage and issue of materials, equipments, office stationery, furniture & fittings and services right from indent stage to awarding of contract, which include the following

- Processing of Indents and Tender Documents
- Receipt and Opening of Tenders
- Preparation of Comparative Statement and Commercial evaluation.

d. Construction and Maintenance Group (CMG) Construction and Maintenance Group extends required services in Architectural, Civil, Electrical, Air conditioning, Mechanical and Horticultural activities of the centre. Construction & Maintenance Group (CMG) in general functions in the following spheres of activities:

- Tendering & Award of Contracts.
- Construction of Facilities (CIVIL, ELE & AC).

Functional Activities
1) Preventive activities
b.Periodical Medical examinationsof the employees working in hazardous areas.
c. Mandatory Medical check-up: A comprehensive medical examination for all employees of VSSC & LPSC for screening of various disease conditions.
d. The School Health check-upThe School Health check-up is conducted for students of VSSC central school for screening and treatment of disease conditions.

These activities are carried out through Colony Health Centre, Polyclinic and First Aid Centres.
Colony Health Centre
Colony Health Centre is located near the Housing Colony at VSSC. It caters to the health needs of the employees, CISF Personnel and their dependents who are CHSS beneficiaries attached to the clinic. It is the first referral unit for all emergencies occurring inside the campus.
The following facilities are available at Colony Health Centre:
- Outpatient treatment for acute and chronic diseases.
- 24 Hour Casualty service
- Specialty consultations in General Medicine, Ophthalmology, Gynaecology, Psychology and E.N.T.
- A well-equipped Nursing station
- Clinical Laboratory: All routine Haematology and Biochemistry tests are done daily at the Clinical laboratory
- Pharmacy: Medicines for Outpatient management of common acute and chronic illnesses are available in the in house Pharmacy. /li>
- A Digital X-ray unit is available in the Colony Health Centre
- Occupational health unit, VSSC is attached to the Colony Health Centre.
- A Dental clinic is also attached to the Colony Health Centre.
VSSC Polyclinic is located at Pattom in the VSSC Health and Hospitality complex.
The following facilities are available at VSSC Polyclinic:
- Outpatient and Emergency services are available at the clinic.
- Specialty services – General Medicine, Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Cardiology, ENT and Gynaecology consultations are available.

f. Canteen and Guest House Service (C&GHS)
Canteen and Guest House Service provides food to the workforce round the clock .
It provides breakfast, Lunch and dinner.
it also Provides Special Lunch at canteen and guest house. it faccilitates all guest house services.
C&GHSS also serve Morning, After Noon and Evening Tea & Snacks Services, Special. Tea, Coffee Services for official meetings. Special Services for Seminars, Symposiums and other events.
g.Transport Operation and Maintenance Division (TOMD):
Transport Operation and Maintenance Division (TOMD) is responsible for transportation of material and personnel. It deployes an assorted fleet of more than 280 light vehicles and 100 heavy vehicles including trailers. Main Activities of the Division are organised as follows:
