भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन ने अपने विक्रम साराभाई अंतरिक्ष केंद्र (वीएसएससी) में बहुउद्देशीय बॉन्डिंग अनुप्रयोगों के लिए पॉलीसिलोक्सेन पर आधारित कमरे के तापमान का इलाज योग्य एकल भाग चिपकने वाला, सिलसेम आर9 विकसित किया है। इस प्रणाली में पॉलीसिलोक्सेन, फिलर्स और क्यूरिंग घटक होते हैं जिन्हें डीह्यूमिडिड परिस्थितियों में मिश्रित किया जाता है और उपयोग के लिए तैयार स्थिति के लिए निचोड़ ट्यूबों के अंदर भरा जाता है। चिपकने वाला ट्यूब से निचोड़ा जा सकता है और बहुत आसानी से सीधे सबस्ट्रेट्स और बंधुआ पर लागू होता है। नम हवा के संपर्क में आने पर, यह अपने आप एक ठोस रबरयुक्त द्रव्यमान के लिए कठोर हो जाता है।

For bonding waterproofed silica tile and flexible insulation in RLV-TD, bonding MDA tiles in crew module of HSP mission, bonding RFR cloth to CFRP substrate in the wire tunnel area, bonding RFR cloth and PUIR to epoxy enamel coated aluminum tank in the LH2 tank area of C-25, and for bonding GFRP to SS plate in the auxiliary umbilicals (LH2 and LOX tank ) of cryogenic stages.
Societal application:
This adhesive finds large societal applications for use as sealants to provide leak proof joints. This material can also be used as a gap filler materials where high temperatures are experienced. Being a water repellant adhesive material, the bonded substrates maintains good strength even under wet conditions. It finds applications as a general purpose adhesive for bonding / sealing materials like wood, metals, leathers, foams etc.
